“Our second-grade students had such a meaningful experience during Michelle’s author visit! She inspired students to think creatively, ask questions, and see themselves as readers and writers.” Melissa P., second grade teacher, Creston Elementary
“Michelle came visited our 3rd & 4th graders to share her joy of drawing. Students were able to see how her art matured and changed as she grew up. Students easily related to her love of her dogs and how she wrote about them in her book. Students participated in the lesson by drawing animals themselves. It was a super fun presentation!”
Pauline D., third and fourth grade, Creston Elementary.
AUTHOR VISITS
Thank you for your interest in an author visit for your school, organization, or special event. Engagement with an author brings excitement to the writing process.
My author presentations have an energetic and active approach for sharing my love of writing and illustrating with others. My goal is to inspire kids to write their own creative stories.
With my presentations, I’ll share the story behind the story by giving insights into why my unique process is different than other authors.
Visits are geared to meet the ages of the students and the objectives of the teacher(s) or organization.
The presentations generally run 30-40 minutes for kindergarten through grade 2 and 45-60 minutes for grades three through eighth.
In-person or virtual visit options available.

“You gave a great presentation. The interaction by creating a story with the girls—you made it so easy to create it. It’s been three weeks, and the girls are still talking about your presentation and what they learned. Today, they all talked about the things they saw at our outing and coming up with story ideas, just like they did with you!”
Tammy S., SAIL group coordinator for 3-5th grade girls. Bigfork, MT
What teachers are saying…
LOVED YOUR PRESENTATION! “The kids were really able to connect with you and your story. It was also super helpful that you included them in the conversation by asking them questions they could relate to.” Mandy F., second grade teacher, Bigfork Elementary
“Creston Kindergarteners loved welcoming Michelle into our classroom. The students loved seeing the pictures of your dogs and how you used real life events to write your story! I think seeing a real author in person was so great for them too! Shanta M., Kindergarten teacher, Creston Elementary
“You did a fabulous job keeping my kindergarteners interested! Thank you for sharing your writing and illustrating experience.” Christina B., kindergarten teacher, Swan River Elementary
“Thank you for coming in! The kids enjoyed hearing about the professional writing experience. Your talk of a personal narrative tied directly to what the students are learning in class.” Jo A., second grade teacher, Bigfork Elementary
“Michelle encouraged the group to come alongside her in drawing their own illustrations and then composing a story that was told through their pictures. It was such a fun exercise, we’d welcome her back any time!” Vonnie B., SAIL after school group coordinator.
“It was so good!! You kept the attention of my great listeners and even the typical fidgeters. I truly appreciate your time today!” Sharon M., P-K Teacher Virtual Visit: South Carolina
